What about high doses — is more risky?
The high-dose data are reassuring as far as they go. The 2000 mg/day NR trial in obese men reported normal safety bloodwork and no serious adverse events over 12 weeks (Dollerup et al., 2018). A dedicated safety trial pushed NR to 3000 mg/day for 30 days and found it safe, specifically reporting no depletion of the body's methyl donors — a theoretical concern with high B3 intake that this study directly tested and didn't find (NR-SAFE, 2023).
