That trial reported significant improvement in sleep quality alongside reductions in stress and anxiety scores. The population and design were different enough from the insomnia trial that the two results aren't strictly comparable — but together they suggest any sleep benefit may run through curcumin's effects on mood and inflammation in people who have those issues to begin with, rather than being a general sleep-onset effect.
Why might turmeric help some people sleep better, if it's not sedating?
Pain, inflammation, and anxiety are all common causes of poor sleep.
