What actually changed on the rocking night?

Compared to the stationary night, the rocking night showed a shortened transition from wakefulness into non-REM sleep, along with more time in N3 (deep, slow-wave sleep) and an increase in sleep spindles — brief bursts of brain activity linked to memory consolidation.
